① Product Description

I was wandering through Yachimun Ichi — Okinawa's twice-yearly pottery market — when this bowl suddenly caught my eye, and I stopped right in my tracks.

The flowing karakusa arabesque is drawn in white slip by hand, one line at a time, using a technique called itchin: the potter squeezes clay slip through a fine nozzle, slowly tracing each curve. The lines have a quiet, organic rhythm — the kind you don't notice at first, but the longer you look, the more it pulls you in.

At about 16 cm across — a traditional 5-sun bowl — this is just the right size for everyday use. Salads, side dishes, a generous portion of soup, a single serving of rice with toppings. It fits the table the way a good companion fits a conversation: quietly, without demanding attention.

And yet, somehow, just having it there changes the whole feeling of a meal. That's the quiet power of yachimun.

I chose this piece because I wanted to bring that warmth — born from Okinawan soil and a craftsperson's steady hands — straight to your table. Why not let your everyday bowl be one that came from an island market?
