① Product Description

The moment I saw this bowl, the coastline of Okinawa came rushing back to me. The carved vertical lines on the dusty blue base looked just like waves breaking at the shoreline. And the sandy, speckled glaze spreading upward — that was the beach itself, warmed by the afternoon sun.

The wide, flared rim opens outward like arms stretched toward the sea. I fell in love with it instantly. It has the kind of presence that doesn't need anything else to feel complete.

Fill it with a bright salad, pour in a warm soup, or pile it high with pasta — it suits them all. Even left empty, it holds its own as a quiet centerpiece on the table. Float a few blossoms in water, and it becomes a small reflecting pool.

For me, just having this bowl at the center of the table is enough. The room softens, the meal slows down, and somehow Okinawa walks right in — carrying the salt of the sea, the sand underfoot, and the wide blue horizon. Why not let your next bowl bring a piece of that island home?

Stoneware clay with lead-free glaze. The lower body features hand-carved vertical shinogi lines beneath a dusty blue glaze, while a sandy, speckled glaze spreads across the upper section and the flared rim. Lead- and cadmium-free as confirmed by the artisan.

Handmade in Kitanakagusuku, Okinawa, Japan by Jin - Pottery Studio (Masahito Date).
