① Product Description
The glaze caught me first — sage green and warm rust melting quietly into each other, like the mountains of Yanbaru after rain. That deep, still color of soaked trees, the kind you only see in northern Okinawa.
Paul Lorimer grew up in New Zealand and now makes his work in Motobu Okinawa Japan, in the wild green north of the island. I imagine he glimpsed something of home in that lush landscape — and I think that quiet recognition is what's resting in this plate. The rim, textured like the surface of weathered rock, rings the food like a frame around something precious.
Paul digs his clay himself, walking the land to find it, and blends roughly eight different types to make his signature body. The green in this glaze isn't a recipe you can buy — it's the result of years of quiet refinement. Even the wood he fires his kiln with is chosen carefully: only natural, chemically untreated timber. That kind of intention runs through everything he makes.
I chose this piece because it doesn't shout. It simply exists — beautifully, honestly, completely. Why not let your next dinner plate be one that brings the quiet of an Okinawan forest to the table?
