Holding this cup in my hands, the memory of Okinawa's mountains came rushing back. The carved vertical lines flow down the body like the trees of the Yanbaru forest. The deep mix of brown and gray brings back the rough surface of mountain rock, while a band of sandy glaze around the rim glows soft — like a sliver of sky just beyond the ridgeline.

When I wrap both hands around this cup, the warmth of Okinawa's nature seems to seep through slowly, palm to palm. I want you to feel that same warmth in every sip — a hot tea on a quiet morning, a cup of coffee while the city is still waking up.

Stoneware clay with lead-free glaze. The body features vertical shinogi carving — hand-carved grooves running from rim to base — finished in earthy brown and gray tones, with a sandy glaze band around the rim. Lead- and cadmium-free as confirmed by the artisan.

Handmade in Kitanakagusuku, Okinawa, Japan by Jin - Pottery Studio (Masahito Date).
